I began my career working in a health food store in York, UK, in the late nineties.  And it’s a good job I did because at the time I was eating an awful diet! I was supposed to be a pescatarian, but was more of a “pastafarian”, living on white pasta and cheap cheese.  My diet was causing all kinds of health issues, from pre-menstrual tension and spots to low energy and anxiety.

Gradually, as I learnt more about natural health, I started changing what I ate. Over time my anxiety, energy levels, and skin improved, and the PMT virtually disappeared.  I was hooked – a complete convert to holistic health!

The store I worked in offered lots of training opportunities in herbal medicine, nutrition, and supplements.  After a few years I decided to take things further and study for a degree in Nutritional Medicine.  Once qualified, I set up a private nutritional therapy practice working with clients of all ages with a diverse range of health issues.

Alongside my private practice I spent several years as a columnist in the local paper and was part of the education team at a leading supplement company, writing training materials for other practitioners.  I also enjoy presenting talks and workshops for charities, corporate clients and health groups, and being a podcast guest.  Over the last few years, I have been working as the clinical lead on an MSc course in nutrition, training the next generation of nutrition practitioners.

In 2019 I put my private practice on hold to concentrate on finishing my first book, “Natural Nutrition for Perimenopause: What to eat to feel good and stay sane”, which came out in May 2021.  At long last the public conversation around perimenopause and menopause is opening up, and I firmly believe nutrition and lifestyle medicine needs to be part of it.

I am now thrilled to be working with Pura Collagen, who have created a truly exceptional range of collagen products.  The natural health industry is renowned for being innovative, and Pura Collagen are leading the way with their unique, high-quality supplements.  It’s an exciting time to be part of their team and see the difference the products make to people’s lives.
